Servisair cargo warehouse fire led to a 400-metre exclusion zone being established, but flights were not affected.
A fire broke out at Heathrow airport with plumes of smoke visible from at least six miles away.100 firefighters and 20 fire engines were involved in the operation.100 firefighters and 20 fire engines were tackling the flame in a cargo area at the airport.200 people were evacuated from the warehouse but there were no reports of any injuries or anybody trapped in the building.
However, Heathrow remained open and flights were operating normally.
The warehouse belongs to Servisair who provide ground services including cargo, fuel, de-icing, and buses from the planes to terminals.
The cause of fire has not yet been established. The BBC reported that it believed a forklift truck caught fire. It said witnesses heard explosions, probably from the gas cylinders on the vehicle.
